The Detroit mansion once owned by Motown Records founder Berry Gordy is again for sale.
Agent Deborah Smith of Keller Williams Reality tells The Associated Press the roughly 10,000-square-foot Italian Renaissance Revival home was listed Tuesday for about $1.3 million. The 10-bedroom home in the historic Boston-Edison neighborhood is a two-mile drive from Motown’s original home.
Owner Cynthia Reaves, who MLive.com reports bought the house in 2001 from Gordy, originally listed it in 2010 for about $1.4 million. Smith said the “market was a little depressed” and “wasn’t ready” for the home.
Smith said she’s fielded “a lot of inquiries from potential buyers.”
The home was built in 1917 by a lumber magnate. Gordy bought what became known as the “Motown Mansion” in 1967 and lived there a few years before moving to Los Angeles.
